Fasion for Nerds Contest (see side bar for link)

Today I entered Audi's contest. I am always a last minute person, not sure why but as much as I try to change it doesn't happen. Today is the boldest I've been and I have to thank Audi because I would have never put this outfit together if it wasn't for her contest. I'm to afraid of color (as you can see by my post yesterday) I like feeling safe and this is very 'out there' for me, but I do love it and I have embraced it and I am going to walk around today proud.

I know all my photo's look like I'm sitting on the loo but its really the only full length mirror I own and it happens to be in the bathroom (sorry)-- If you go to Audi's page "Fashion for Nerds" you'll see the inspiration is a very modern look, but I took it in a preppy direction. Hope you like it and wish me luck!

Unsure

For some reason I was feeling uncomfortable with this outfit. Everything fit well, but I think the color combo threw me off. I felt that the shoes didn't go with the skirt.

The skirt is a black and white hounds tooth print, and when I added the shoes I felt my skirt needed to be brown. I don't know...I am way over analyzing this, and acting silly because I asked a couple of the girls in the office today what they thought?
Why am I feeling insecure...ugh!! weird.

Ride along

I have been looking for a brown pencil skirt for a while, and I found this one from Ann Taylor Loft at a really good price $10.00. However I'm not really liking the skirt. There is a slit on the left side of the skirt and its a little higher than I wanted it to be, and even though you can't see them, they have pockets and I'm not liking how they are sitting on my hips.

I'll keep the skirt, but I'm still on the look out for a better brown pencil skirt. I'm also in love with the shirt. I bought it at Banana Republic outlet for $15.00. It was such a steal!

I have someone riding along with me today and tomorrow, to see how I work. Hopefully she will approve :-)

The seasons

I'm a big nail color freak! Mainly OPI, I'm posting this because I just saw their new collection of bridal colors in a magazine and I plan to get them all, it is perfect for work.

I have two trays. The first one you see is my fall/winter colors and the second one is my spring/summer colors. If they still have the wrapper its because I haven't used them yet. (I do plan too!) I try really hard to change my nail color once a week.

So if anybody is ever interested to see what color I'm wearing this week, I'll be happy to tell you.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm going to change it today, but last week I wore.
OPI-Los Cabos Coral
This week it is --OPI's Tijuana Dance?

Outlets, here I come!

During my lunch I stopped at some outlets, I got basic shirts in each color. I'm very excited over my buys. I also realized some of my clothes don't fit because I did gain some weight. I'm not sure really what to do with them. Donate them? or try to lose some weight? I guess I have to decide if I really like them enough to keep them. I'll keep you posted.

My local 99cent store is selling cushion insoles for your shoes. I bought 20 of them. Also, if you haven't done so yet, try to see if there is a Buffalo exchange in your area. You won't be disappointed!

Denim Friday!

I normally wear Denim pants on Fridays (Casual Fridays!) however I have 3 appointments today before I head into the office, so I felt I needed to be a little dressier for my appointments. I did want to tone down the look since I have a lot of embellishment, so I wore a denim jacket.

Also wanted to mention during the week, I don't wear a lot of jewelry, make-up or use purses (even though I own a ton of all three) in my industry, I really am overdressed. So just adding more to my ensemble will be almost an over kill.

Tomorrow my friend is throwing her sister a birthday 'day' party at her local winery, so we'll be tasting wine all day tomorrow :) Hope you enjoy your Friday and thanks for stopping by.

Husband's challange

This idea came from Sal from Already pretty, she mentioned that she will ask her husband to give her an assignment, so I went to my husband and said :"what colors do you think I should wear tomorrow?" and he said Gray...2 seconds later he said blue...5 more seconds later, he went back to gray. So my intention was to do blue and gray.

Well, let me tell you that was a hard assignment. This skirt is a little snug on me, so there was no way I can tuck in a shirt and all the blue shirts that I did own needed to be tucked in. So what I did was go all gray and add blue earrings. It took me over an hour to get dressed and I was extremely stressed. This picture was taken at the end of day.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

Almost the same dress as the other day, except with a subtle window pane print. May I ask you guys a question? how often do you go shopping? everyday? one a week? one a month? year?
I'm a shopaholic so I'll admit to going to the stores every other day or so. I may not buy all the time but I do go (I'm not rich but being an outside sales person, I just tend to go during my lunch) and I'm hoping your answer is similar to mine. I would love to be considered normal. If you guys tell me once a month, then I need to get some help or start reading a book during lunch :-)

Thanks!

My brands

Because of this blog, I realized I keep going to the same stores...i.e. Banana Republic outlets, Calvin Klein outlets, Target (Merona, Mossimo, etc.) I don't seem to branch out very much. I think this needs to change :-)

Now I'm off to read your blog...talk to you all later!

107 degrees today.

Have you ever had one of those days in which nothing fits you right, you woke up late and you have a big huge zit on your face. Well that day was today ugh! To top it off, it reached 107 degrees today so add hot and sweaty to my list.

Excuse the mess since I was running very late, but overall I was happy with my choice.
I'm also struggling on how to be creative with my outfits without remixing. If you remember I am trying not to remix things on purpose so I can justify keeping my clothes/items. I have meetings both Tuesday and Wednesday at the corporate office, so we'll see what I can come up with.

Oh, and this dress came with a tie belt but I didn't like the look so I went with a more structured belt instead.

come and look at the pretty flowers.

This is such a crappy picture and just now my husband informed me I was a crappy poser, I took this picture after a long day at the races. Keanu Reeves was the first celebrity to cross the finish line and Danica Patric came in 4th place which won me $2.oo (even though my hubby and I put in $30.oo) After going wave running in the morning and races in the afternoon I am beat, beat, beat.

My husband is a finance manager (job) by day and a landscaper (hobby) by night. He was so proud of his flowers he started taking pictures of them. Here they are in full bloom and it is wonderful walking to your car and seeing such a pretty sight. Good job my husband!

Sorry my clothes are so wrinkly, as I mentioned-- long day.

I liked my look today. This weekend is the Long Beach Grand Prix and we are looking forward to it! I'll probably be wearing some walking shorts and a casual blouse, we'll see.

Orange you glad to see the blue sky

k
I had a big huge scare today. A gunman shot a few people and killed himself at my husband's work today. Its seems he got laid off and came back one last time to kill people because he was so stressed out about losing his job. Talking from experience-- losing your job is devastating, so I understand the desperation but to shoot people just gives me the ibby jibbies. My hubby is safe (Thank goodness) but I was sad all day about the other people that were not. :-(

A year ago I took my mom mother's day shopping at her local mall. During our visit, the small kitten heel on the sandal I was wearing broke. I gave my mother $40 to go to the nearest shoe store and buy me a pair of shoes, while I waited near by at a bench. She went into Bakers and came out with these orange extremely high heels. I have no idea what they cost (more or less) since she didn't give me any change back and was surprised she got me such a 'fancy' shoe when I was wearing something very casual with sandals that had a small heel.

I asked her why she picked those and she said "they reminded me of you" so I put them on and we continued with our day. My mom got me my first pair of orange shoes :-)
Also, I wanted to do a dress over a vest again, but none of the vest I owned worked well with this dress, so I put a blazer on instead.

All Issac all the time

I am all giddy today. A cute guy tried to stop me on the freeway to ask me for my phone number. This is the second time this week it has happened and I'm in awe and embarrassed. For being a sales woman I am a really shy person, so I just kept looking forward and hoping he will go away. I don't consider myself a natural beauty, and I try VERY hard to look attractive for myself/husband, but when I get looks from someone else I'm always surprised (but happy)

I can't wait to tell my husband when he gets home, he is one of my best friends and I tell him everything :-)

Today without knowing I am wearing Issac Mizrahi for Target --again I miss this label, but oh well, I'm sure I'll find something to replace him/it.

Its all in the details

Thank you Kimberly of fab finds under $50 for giving me the idea of a vest over a dress. My biggest problem with dresses is that they make me look like a box. The other day I finally found a black vest I liked and I paired it up with this dress (this dress I have never worn but had for the past 2 years) I was extremely happy with the look.

I also love it when the detailing of the shoe matches the detailing of the dress. There is studs on both the boots and the dress that made this into a great outfit.

Copy Cat

I saw this jacket on Tina & Kimberly on their blog and when I found it at Target for the low price of $7.50/ea, it was hard to pass up. So I decided to wear this today. I am not very bold and as much as I try, I wanted to pair this up with a bright color but I chicken out. Not sure why but I'm all about neutrals. I did try to add a subtle pop of color and that was the pink necklace and shoes. My daily reader is my inspiration, so keep it up girls because you are doing a great job and looking fabulous!

Happy Easter!

Both my mom and hubby told me I looked very Easter like. I was surprise because I wore a dark denim skirt, with black sandals. When I think of Easter I think pastels. Pastels really don't look good on me so I went with vibrant colors since I'm trying to be more creative.

Thanks for stopping by :-)

day dresses not for me

There are certain things that don't look good on me, like Maxi Dresses for example. Another item that is not in my wardrobe is sundresses and/or day dresses. I have a ton of evening dresses (after 5pm) but day dresses, I think I only own 3 which includes this one--even though some argue it will work for evening. Maybe I haven't found the right one, either way most dresses make me look like a box and I wish I knew how to fix this.

I was going to clean my 'closet' so I may take more photos and remembered tomorrow is Easter and I still haven't purchased the baskets I was going to give my nieces and nephews. So off I went shopping and I wanted something simple and pulled this dress. I figured I can make it look more casual with some flip flops, but later in the day it got cold so I took a jacket and scarf with me. I think if I switched my flip flops to heels, I would have been ready for an evening out, but as I mentioned I really do not own day dresses and this is the closet thing I can come up with.

I ended up making the baskets myself and that took all day, so it will have to be till next time to get closet shots.

Hope you all have a great holiday!
