safe and sound

I just came back from a trade show in Tijuana Mexico or known to us locals as T.J.-- I picked earthy dark colors as to not cause any attention ...in other words, I didn't want to be notice!

Sadly, I grew up going to T.J. every weekend until I graduated High School, so its hard to hear all the bad things that's happening now because it was my second home, but when your own relatives that live there are telling you its dangerous, you realize its not the same Mexico I once knew.

Since I didn't take my laptop with me I took another wonderful tote bag that I own.

P.S--I wore the red trench coat yesterday....I was really going to wear the purple one but I changed my mind at the last minute...I should have went with my first instinct ;)

from 55 to 79 in one day

This morning it was a nice 55 degrees with rain, by 3pm it was sunny and 79 degrees...Now, how do you dress around that? Speaking of dress, I am going to Mexico tomorrow for a 1 day work trip. I'm only 2 hours away from the boarder, so going there is no big deal, but with today's culture, I can't be too dressy or they'll rob you, even if you do look Mexican.

I love trench coats...love them...enough to basically own them in every color. I am just showing you the 'colored' ones that I own, I have basic ones (brown, plaid, black, etc..) but since this outfit needed a pop of color, these were my 4 options.

Now...which one do you think I picked? Also, which one would you have picked for me? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

rain...sweet rain

I really do like rain, but I wish it only happened on the weekends :) I drive for a living so rain gets in my way sometimes. Wanted to show you the umbrella's I use: the Burberry London I use during the summer (Hot sun in So. Cal) but the other two I take with me during winter.
The darker blue coach gets left in my car for those 'just in case' moments; the teal one is in my tote work bag.

I had to keep my jacket close all day today, so I wasn't able to show off the necklace I won from Things a Boutique owner Sees a while back, but I thought I looked quite dapper if I don't say so myself :)

Wishing everyone who stops by my blog a fantastic day!

Chadwicks...Oh my!

Lately I have been on a Chadwick's' kick...Its rare that I purchase via catalog--Maybe once a year (Newport News, Chadwick's, etc.) mainly because I like to try on the items first for fit, but I just can't stop ordering from Chadwick's right now.

I've ordered these three things so far, the only exception is the lace blouse (ordered in black instead of tan) I already had a lace blouse that I purchased recently from White House/Black Market that I already enjoy and paid full price on, but this was a such a good deal (40% off coupon for each item) that I needed to see the blouse in person.

I bought the lace blouse in black because tan and cream, really don't look good on me, it sort of washes me out, but I have no regrets, I'm loving my buys. Doesn't the jackets look marvelous????? *Sigh* I can't wait to get them....(patiently waiting for the UPS man)

back in time

I've had these boots since 1992, my mom bought them for me when I graduated High School. We were VERY poor, so when she surprised me with these $200 boots from Nine West that I had been wanting for a while, when I was stalking Macy's shoe dept. I was shocked!

My mom knew I wanted them and it was something I thought it was never going to happen.
Knowing my parents financial woes at the time I immediately wanted to take them back but my mom wouldn't let me. My parents wanted to give me something really nice for my big day and I have been taking care of them ever since. I love these boots and I will ALWAYS have them in my collection, plus this had been the most expensive gift my parents ever gave me.

Leather & Lace

The day I bought this blouse at White House/Black Market, the sales lady asked me what special event was I going to wear this blouse too...I looked at her and gave her a funny face and said WORK. She looked at me in shock... like was I really going to wear this blouse to work?...ummm yes I am.

I was invited to go to Happy Hour with some co-workers Friday night, so I thought this was a good opportunity to wear this blouse, I'm so loving this blouse :)

I owe you $1.59

I saw this color combo at a store window, I really enjoyed the yellow/pink combo and I wanted to try it.

I went to pick up my dry cleaning today and the lady said she over charged me $1.59. I of course asked her why she thought she over charged me. She said because I only gave her 9 items instead of 10..huh???? Lucky for me I know every single item that I own and before I go into the dry cleaners, I count my items and I was confident I gave her 10 items, she was telling me how she always makes these kinds of mistakes and that she was very sorry, but that I truly only gave her 9 items.

I went through the clothes and said "Where is my printed flower blouse?" she looked at the receipt, she had in her hand and guess what was written on the receipt, a flower silk printed blouse. So I asked her again, where is my blouse? She called the manager and he asked if I can come back tomorrow....ummm---NO..I wasn't wasting my gas to come back, I want my shirt now.

He didn't believe me that I had a shirt here but that it was a data entry error, so I told him...do you want to see a picture of it? I can tell you the brand, where I got it and at what price in 5 min. (Did I mention I keep a log of my items) Never mind the fact that I was able to pull up my blog instantly via blackberry and show him the blouse in question. 20 min later I was driving back home with all 10 items :)

What really annoyed me was the fact that they tried to cover it up by saying I only gave them 9 items....never mind the fact that the refund should have been for $3.09 (1.59-for dry cleaning, .50 because it was silk and 1.00-for make-up stain removal) plus the cost of the shirt.

Moral of the story, don't mess with a women who has a fashion blog!
Sorry for the rant, I'm just extremely happy I got my blouse back :)
